R&D Engineer (Java) | Amsterdam based | Healthcare | Small flexible team | SAAS microservices based application | Java 8-17 | Creative | Analytical | Curious | Experimental | Permanent contract
We are looking for creative R&D Engineers that are motivated to help shape the future of IT in Dutch healthcare. We create SAAS software for the Dutch healthcare market. Our software is used by healthcare professionals to access complete patient information at any time, so they can optimize their work processes and execute their profession better. We provide services to more than 120 companies and have by >30k users a day. In order to increase our impact even more we are launching a new system in 2022. Our ambitions are big and in order to reach them we are in need of talent!
Gerimedica has recently formed a new R&D team that will spearhead the development of our future products and services. At Gerimedica we see R&D as a preliminary stage in the development process. It is not the goal of R&D to deliver finished, ready to market products. Instead R&D represents the activities to ignite the innovation and introduction of new products and services or to improve our existing products.
As an R&D engineer you will work on various topics that we believe will contribute to the development of IT solutions in Dutch healthcare. R&D is future-focused. You might be working on something that could need 3-5 years to transform into a market-ready product. At the same time you might be working on a cool new feature of our existing products that we want to experiment with together with a small group of customers. It is important that the diversity of the work motivates you. You will be working together in a small team of like-minded people in close cooperation with the Head of R&D. You will be in frequent contact with our existing development teams.
As the name suggests, an R&D Engineer not only develops but also researches possible solutions. As a Software Engineer in the R&D department you are very interested in the latest developments and newest technologies in the online world. You will have ample opportunity to develop yourself and expand your knowledge. You then use this knowledge and experience to actively contribute ideas about new functionalities of our products. We expect that you’ve already covered a lot of ground as a Java developer in a SaaS environment.
To be successful as an R&D engineer, we believe it is essential that you are:
Creative: Your creativity allows you to have an open mind when approaching a proposition. You can think outside the box.
Intuitive: Your intuition allows you to solve problems efficiently. It’s that hunch that pushes you in the right direction.
Analytical: Your analytical abilities make you go the extra mile in crafting a solution. Intuition and analytical abilities may seem paradoxical: your intuition gives you that hunch, your analytical abilities allow you to dive in.
Experimental: You like to learn through experimentation. Risk of failing is something you deal with, not avoid.
Curious: Your curiosity is the thing that makes you question. Questions are what drives your work.
Self-Motivated: You are able to motivate yourself to initiate new thoughts and push the boundaries of your job. There isn't a lot of external motivation in R&D, it has to come from within.
Optimistic: “I'd rather be an optimist and a fool than a pessimist and right.” A quote from Albert Einstein that says it all.
